TIRUPATI: Chittoor Police on Wednesday arrested an accused involved in the murder of a 49-year-old woman that took place near Mopakshi post in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor rural mandal on April 10.
The accused identified as Iruvaram Srinivasulu (52) got acquainted with Kasthuri (49) who lost her husband and was living alone.
After they got into a live-in relationship, the accused started to suspect Kasthuri's character as she began to move closely with other men.
Srinivasulu, who developed a grudge against Kasthuri, took her to a mango orchard near Seshachalapuram on April 10, attacked her with a knife, killing her and fled.
Chittoor Rural Police arrested Srinivasulu on Wednesday.
Gang attacks SEB sleuths In a brazen act, a gang involved in brewing illicit liquor attacked and injured special enforcement bureau sleuths at Buggathanda village in Pathikonda mandal of Kurnool district on Wednesday.
According to information, SEB SI Obulesu along with a constable and a driver went to Buggathanda after they received information related to brewing of illicit liquor, arrack and toddy.
The SEB sleuths, who reached a local arrack brewing unit with the help of informers, were attacked by the goons following an argument.
SEB SI Obulesu and the two others who fled away after being attacked lodged a complaint with the Pathikonda police, who took five accused into custody and registered a case.
