Hospitals Covid-ready with oxygen beds & medicines in Noida and Ghaziabad, find checks

NOIDA: The health department on Tuesday conducted Covid drills at various government and private hospitals in Noida and Ghaziabad.
During the drills, nearly 40 teams consisting of nodal officers and hospital and CHC staffers inspected the availability and condition of oxygen plants, beds, oxygen concentrators and medicines in the two cities.
In Noida, the drill happened at District Combined Hospital in Sector 39, Child PGI, Sharda Hospital, GIMS, and four primary healthcare centres at Bisrakh, Jewar, Dadri and Bhangel.
Noida CMO Dr Sunil Sharma said, "Dr SK Nanda, director (nursing) in the state, monitored the facility in Sector 39 and the overall drill. After reviewing the Covid preparedness, he has expressed satisfaction. Our teams found sufficient beds at Sector 39 DCH-earlier Noida Covid hospital, Sharda Hospital, and CHCs across the district. They also found oxygen plants functional and medicine stock adequate at all facilities."
In Ghaziabad, the District Combined Hospital in Sanjay Nagar, ESI Hospital, Santosh Medical College and four CHCs in Loni, Dasna, Modi Nagar and Muradnagar saw Covid drills on Tuesday. Officials said that the health facilities are ready to meet any requirements if the Covid cases rise further.
On Tuesday, Noida added 70 new Covid cases, with 318 active cases and 12 patients in hospitals now. Neighbouring Ghaziabad reported 62 new Covid cases, with 209 active cases and 14 patients in hospitals now.
"Patients undergoing treatment at different hospitals either have comorbid conditions or are aged. They all have mild symptoms," said Dr Amit Kumar, the district surveillance officer of Noida. "We have started random sampling at public places, like bus stations. According to the state government guidelines, symptomatic patients at all hospitals are now getting tested," Kumar added.
