Goa chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Amit Palekar on Wednesday said that his party could contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election from both North as well as South Goa constituencies.
Palekar also said that AAP has started groundwork in Goa for the Parliamentary poll and is talking to the probable candidates. He however informed that his party would not be contesting the May 5 Ponda and Sanquelim municipal polls.
AAP has recently received the national party status from the Election Commission of India.
Addressing a press conference along with the local office bearers of the party, Palekar thanked the people of Goa for the particular achievement.
Speaking further, Palekar claimed that two of the three Congress MLAs are on their way to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. He however refrained from naming these two Congress legislators.
Palekar further said that the Revolutionary Goans Party should merge with the Eknath Shinde group of Shiv Sena as they are both “Birds of the same feather…”
Replying to a question, Palekar said that the status of a national party accorded to AAP clearly shows that it can fill the vacuum in the opposition space.
Meanwhile, Goa in-charge of AAP Deepak Singla is on a visit to the state in order to finalise strategy for strengthening the party’s presence in the state as well as increase party’s membership here.
