PATNA: A driver of a ATM van Suraj Kumar, transporting Rs 1.47 crore cash for refilling ATMs in the state capital disappeared with the booty after the employees of the cash dealing agency stepped out of the vehicle to refill the ICICI bank's machine in Alamganj area, police said on Tuesday. Police recovered the empty van about 1km away from the ATM.
Police are conducting raids at the accused hideouts in Patna and his native place in Jehanabad. Suraj is a resident of Daulatpur under Ghosi police station area of Jehanabad district and was working for the company for the last three months.
Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra said the incident took place at Danka Imli Chowk of Alamganj police station area of Patna City area on Monday evening, when the Securewell India Private Limited van reached the ICICI bank's ATM.
"Two cashiers, Sonu and Dilip, one auditor Amresh and a security guard Subhash Yadav had stepped out of the van to refill the ATM, leaving Suraj alone in the van" he said.
