Mumbai on Tuesday logged 242 new Covid-19 cases -- a sharp jump from 95 the previous day -- taking the overall tally to 11,59,225, while no fresh death linked to the infection was registered in the metropolis, said the local civic body. The death toll remained unchanged at 19,750, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. (PTI)

Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 919 fresh coronavirus cases and one fatality that raised the tally of infections to 81,51,176, a state health department official said. With the latest fatality, the cumulative Covid-19 death toll rose to 1,48,461, he said. A day earlier, Maharashtra had seen a drop in infections as it reported 328 cases and one death. On Sunday, the state had logged 788 Covid-19 cases. (PTI)

Maharashtra: Cops attacked by man while resolving marital dispute in Thane district
A team of policemen was attacked and injured when they went to resolve a dispute between a couple in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Kalyan town on Sunday night, when beat marshals were informed that a man was beating up his wife in Kolsewadi, inspector S G Gavali of Kolsewadi police station said. (PTI)
Maharashtra: Man kills wife, dumps body near highway in Thane district; held
A 26-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over a dispute and dumped her body near a highway in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Tuesday. The body of Rashma Abdul Rahman Ansari (24) was found by passersby behind a pipeline along the Mumbai-Nashik Highway on Monday morning, senior inspector Datta Borate said. (PTI)
Corporator's husband receives extortion call in Navi Mumbai
Unidentified persons allegedly made extortion call to the husband of a corporator in Navi Mumbai and demanded Rs 75 lakh from him, police said on Tuesday. A case under section 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Khandeshwar police station, an official said. (PTI)

Meanwhile, the use of face masks has been made mandatory for employees, patients and visitors in all civic-run hospitals in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Monday.
Mumbai city saw 95 fresh cases and a single fatality, taking the tally of infections to 11,58,060 and the Covid-19 death toll in the city to 19,750.
At 228, Mumbai circle reported the highest number of cases on Monday, followed by 50 cases in Pune circle, 18 in Nagpur circle, 10 in Akola circle, 8 in Latur circle, and five cases each in Nashik circle and Kolhapur circle.
With the new additions on Monday, the state is now left with 4,667 active cases.
On Sunday, Maharashtra had reported 788 Covid-19 cases and a single fatality.
Maha sees 328 fresh Covid-19 cases, one fatality
Maharashtra on Monday reported 328 fresh Covid-19 cases, a fall of more than 50 per cent compared to the previous day, taking the overall tally of infections to 81,50,257. With a single fatality in Mumbai city, the cumulative Covid-19 death toll in the state rose to 1,48,460.
