2.02 crore women voters to exercise franchise in UP urban local body election
LUCKNOW: If political parties have to dominate in upcoming urban local body (ULB) polls in Uttar Pradesh, they must develop a strong strategy as nearly half of the 4.32 crore voters are women.

According to the state election commission (SEC), more than 2.02 crore voters are women, while 2.29 crore are men in 13,924 wards.
Data accessed by TOI revealed, in Lucknow, there are 15.56 lakh male voters and 13.67 lakh female voters out of the total 29.24 lakh voters under municipal corporation limits.
In Nagar Panchayat areas of Lucknow there are a total 1.91 lakh voters including 92,875 female voters.
Similarly, Kanpur Nagar Municipal Corporation limit has 22.17 lakh voters including 10.33 lakh women voters.
Further in its Nagar Panchayat area, Kanpur Nagar has 18,873 voters including 8,872 female voters and Nagar Palika Parishad jurisdiction has 51,100 voters including 24,113 voters.
In Agra Municipal Corporation limits there are 14.67 lakh voters including 6.71 lakh women voters.
In Nagar panchayat area Agra has 90,621 voters including 42,071 female voters and 1.10 lakh voters in Nagar Palika Parishad including 51,826 female voters.
For Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, SEC has registered 15.76 lakh voters including 6.96 lakh women voters, while Nagar panchayat area has 1.45 lakh voters including 69,523 female voters.
In Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation limits, there are 10.48 lakh voters including 4.72 lakh women voters and 3.18 lakh voters in Nagar panchayat including 1.50 lakh women voters.
A total of 1.90 crore voters are registered in 17 municipal corporations, while 1.47 crore voters in 199 Nagar Palika Parishad and 93 lakh voters in 544 Nagar Panchayat.
Total 13,752 polling centers with 43,198 polling booths will be developed to hold the elections, which have been termed as semi-finals before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
According to the SEC, during polls Covid-19 protocols must be followed which includes test, track, treat, vaccination, social distancing and wearing masks.
