Demands not met, college teachers call for stir again
Gurgaon: College teachers have threatened to launch a statewide agitation against the “nonchalant attitude” of the education department over long-pending demands and the alleged reluctance of the government to engage in mutual consultations over a range of issues pertaining to higher education.
College teachers and representatives of four different unions of the teaching and non-teaching staff of varsities and colleges recently held a meeting to devise their plan of action to press for their demands, such as the restoration of the old pension scheme and salary increments, among others.
“We have written innumerable letters to the CM and education minister to schedule a meeting with them.have sent them a final letter, requesting a meeting to discuss our grievances. If it fails to elicit any response, we will call for a strike,” said Vikas Siwach, chairperson of the Haryana Federation of Universities and Colleges Teachers Organisation (HFUCTO).
