PRAYAGRAJ: The
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise “prabhabi matdata sammelan” (key voter convention) of all communities from April 11 to 18 in city to woo eligible voters for the urban local body polls scheduled on May 4.
The focus will also be on the wards that have never been party’s strongholds.
The BJP has prepared a list of key voters of all communities who can influence voters in their respective booths. These key voters, also known as prabhvi matdata, are being invited by BJP leadership during these symposiums.
BJP spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI: “On Tuesday, the prabhavi matdata sammelan of Brahmin community will be held and deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak will be the chief guest. Further, sammelans of other communities like Kayastha, Vaishya, OBC\Nishad, SC and ST will be organised.”
Mahanagar BJP leadership claimed that party hopes to improve its 2017 tally and is targeting to win across all 100 wards.
Moreover, party leadership has come up with micro-management at the booth level and apart from mobilisation of voters at several levels, party has prioritised the wards which it could never win and is working overtime to expand its influence in such wards particularly in the minority dominated localities.
Leaders claimed that people of all communities, including Muslims, are connecting with the party after being influenced by the public welfare policies of BJP-led Union and state governments.
Senior BJP leader Rajnikant Srivastava said: “Party is taking up voters connect programme and campaign in every ward. It is also eying those wards that have been traditional citadels of the rival camps like Congress,
Samajwadi Party (SP) and
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).”
In 2017 urban municipal polls, the BJP had won on 22 of the 80 wards and later, 15 more corporators from other parties joined the saffron camp. However, the Mahanagar party leadership have activated its cadre, setting up IT and social media cells in all 100 wards covering five assembly seats, including Allahabad North, Allahabad South, Phaphamau, Phulpur and Allahabad West, to aim to connect tech savvy voters.
