With 35 percent more visitors recorded in Kvarner town than this time last year, Opatija Easter tourist statistics are looking extremely promising.
Every year, Opatija attracts people from all over Europe, mainly from Germany and Austria, from where it is reasonably easy to travel. It has Austro-Hungarian architecture and excellent hotels, not to mention its distinction as “the first lady of Croatian tourism,” Total Croatia News reports.
This year’s Easter tourism in Opatija has exceeded itself, with the prospect of a fantastic major tourism season coming summer ahead.
According to Poslovni Dnevnik, Ana Pus Kukuljan of the Opatija Tourist Board talked to N1 Dnevnik on the start of the tourist season this year, highlighting the figures registered over the Easter break.
“Over the weekend, between 4,500 and 5,000 tourists have arrived in Opatija. In April so far, we’ve already had 35 percent more overnight stays when compared to last year, as well as 12 percent more arrivals,” said Pus Kukuljan, adding that 29 of the 32 hotels located in this coastal Kvarner town already have their doors open for guests.
She also stated that the majority of visitors came from Austria and Germany.
“Although Easter has arrived earlier this year than it did last year, we have more guests now than we did this time in 2022. There are more and more events taking place in Opatija during the off-season, which is the key to success,” said Pus Kukljan.
For the unversed, Opatija is a Croatian coastal town on the Adriatic Sea. A fashionable resort in the 19th century, it’s dotted with Habsburg-era villas.
