In America, Nirmala Sitharaman asks would Muslims continue to prosper in India if they were being discriminated against?
Sitharaman said minorities are being killed in Pakistan and it includes even some Muslim sects (especially the Ahmadiyyas) but in India, Muslims can be found doing their own business, with their children getting good education along with fellowships.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said if India was being nasty to Muslims as claimed by some people would the population of Muslims be increasing in the country. Speaking at think tank Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington DC, Sitharaman said unlike Pakistan where all minorities have been systematically depleted by State policy, Muslims in India continue to prosper and grow with State support.
Replying to the question on violence against Muslims in the country and the negative perception of the West about India, Sitharaman said India has second largest Muslim population in the world (after Indonesia) and that the population is also increasing.
She said that if it is reality or just a perception that their lives are difficult or is made difficult by the government which is what is said by write-ups that are usually published in the West, she compared the situation with Pakistan. Sitharaman then asked if the Muslim population would be growing at such scale, higher than before Partition if things were as reported in the West.

Madhya Pradesh: Girl, 5, suffers severe burn injuries after she falls into pot of hot dal during mid-day meal at school
She has sustained 30 percent burns on her body

A chilling incident has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Baansal after a 5-year-old girl fell into a utensil full of hot dal which was being served as a mid-day meal in a school. The incident took place at a primary school on Monday when the students were being served a mid-day meal.
Tejeshwari Tandiya, a class 1 student, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Bhanupratappur where the doctors referred her to the district hospital after giving her initial treatment. She has sustained 30 percent burns on her body, said officials.
According to the reports, Tandiya and other children were standing in a queue to receive the food when they began pushing and shoving each other to get to the front. Amid the rush, Tandiya, who was standing close to the utensil filled with hot dal, was pushed into it.

The teachers immediately took her out of the utensil and rushed her to the hospital.
Pratik Jain, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bhanupratappur said a team has been constituted to investigate the gross negligence by school officials. He said they are taking appropriate action against the concerned teachers and a show-cause notice has been issued to them. He further said that they are trying to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.
However, as per the protocols, students are supposed to be seated while receiving the mid-day meals. The food has to be served to them individually.
