Civic officer thrashes councillor’s husband over squatter removal

Kota: An executive officer of Nainwan municipality slapped the husband of a ward councillor in Bundi district on Monday afternoon for obstructing removal of encroachments. A video of the incident went viral on social media, after which police booked the councillor, her husband, and another female member for assaulting anti-encroachment squad and causing hindrance in government's work. Meanwhile cops will also probe the councillor's husband's report too.
An anti-encroachment squad led by executive officer (EO) in Nainwan municipality Mukesh Nagar reached Rajiv Gandhi Nagar ward number 24 to remove encroachments over government’s land at around 3 pm on Monday when the councilor of ward number 14 Sehnaz Bano, her husband Sajid Khan and one another woman of the family Ajiza Bano allegedly misbehaved, thrashed the EO and other personnel of the squad objecting to removal of the encroachment.
However no video clipping of assault by ward councilor and her kin surfaced, while there is a short video clip of the EO in dark shirt slapping the councilor’s husband after he was threatened of dire consequences for removal of encroachment.
"The video clip of EO is a brief part of the encroachment drive that lasted for around 20 -25 minutes," said DSP Yogesh Choudhary, circle officer of Nainwan.
