CHENNAI: The ongoing IPL fever has not spared even the state assembly. On Tuesday, PMK MLA from Dharmapuri S P Venkateswaran placed an unusual demand before the house – to ban
CSK.
What was interesting was the reason put forth for the ban. “The CSK is projected as a Tamil team but there are no players from
Tamil Nadu in the team despite the state producing many talented players. People are of the opinion that CSK should be banned,” said Venkateswaran.
MLAs usually place several demands in the legislative assembly and most of them are related to their constituencies or specific government departments. But Venkateswaran did an overreach to demand a ban on the team that had been banned for two years (from 2015-17) over corruption charges.
