Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

Hindustan Foods(up 7.16%), Future Consumer(up 7.14%), ADF Foods(up 2.42%), Nakoda Group(up 2.26%), Varun Beverages(up 1.74%), Bajaj Consumer(up 1.58%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 1.53%), Gillette India(up 1.46%), Jyothy Labs(up 1.26%) and Euro India Fresh Foods(up 1.13%) stood among the top gainers.

Tasty Bite Eatables(down 4.24%), Umang Dairies(down 2.65%), Dangee Dums(down 0.98%), Vadilal Industries(down 0.94%), Dodla Dairy(down 0.83%), Parag Milk(down 0.78%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.46%), Dabur India(down 0.26%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 0.17%) and Marico(down 0.12%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 98.25 points up at 17722.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 311.21 points at 60157.72.

Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 4.96%), JSW Steel(up 3.65%), Bajaj Auto(up 2.85%), Eicher Motors(up 2.82%), Tata Steel(up 2.48%), ITC(up 1.92%), ICICI Bank(up 1.55%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.48%), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.46%) and Bajaj Finserv(up 1.39%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy(down 1.52%), Infosys(down 1.5%), HCL Technologies(down 1.46%), Wipro(down 0.82%), Asian Paints(down 0.81%), Tech Mahindra(down 0.81%), Tata Motors(down 0.56%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.46%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.36%) and Titan Company Ltd(down 0.14%) closed in the red.
