Covid mock drill starts in hospitals across state
Bhubaneswar: The state government started a massive mock drill in hospitals from Monday to assess Covid preparedness. It will be held on Tuesday too.
The district administrations have formed teams for the mock drill and assessment. The teams will visit different district headquarters hospitals (DHHs), community health centres (CHCs), medical colleges and hospitals (MCHs) and other Covid facilities to check the preparedness.
Director (public health) Niranjan Mishra said all districts have been asked to complete the mock drill in two days. The district will form teams to visit the government healthcare facilities to check status of beds, drugs, availability of oxygen, ICU facilities, PPE kits, gloves, consumables and enlist everything during this inspection, he added.
He said collectors will supervise the teams for the mock drill. Teams formed by the district administration have been asked to visit DHHs, CHCs, MCHs and other hospitals with Covid treatment facilities to inspect their preparation. While each district headquarters hospital will reserve at least 10 beds, each MCH will reserve 20 beds, said Mishra.
He said hospitalisation rate is very less in Odisha and other states too. “If people get symptoms like Covid, they should go for a test and isolate themselves. They can consult doctors for Covid treatment. If their health condition deteriorates, they can get admitted to the hospital,” he added.
