Nagpur: In times of biopics on politicians, a movie based on the life of Union transport minister
Nitin Gadkari is close to be released on screen. Clippings announcing the movie were seen in social media, where the character playing Gadkari talks about funding a road project.
The movie has been made by a duo from Nagpur, young film-maker Anurag Bhusari and Akshay Deshmukh, a businessman. The full length film has been directed by Bhusari and it is being made under the banner of Akshay Deshmukh Films, Nayanraj Productions, and Team Graphic Bubble Studio. The work began in 2019 and is at present in advanced production stage. The project was held up during Covid and was restarted after the pandemic, said sources.
The film is now getting the finishing touches, but it is too early to announce when the movie also titled ‘Gadkari’, would be launched, said the team. Rahul Chopda plays the role of Gadkari. It is still not clear whether the movie would be released in theatres or directly on to OTT platforms, says the team.
Talking to TOI, the team members said the movie is largely in Marathi, with select dialogues in Hindi. Making a film on Gadkari was the brainchild of the team, and there have been no inputs from the leader’s office.
The details about Gadkari’s life were collected from his friends and acquaintances. There is no other objective but to inspire the youth to take up politics, they said. If a person like Gakdari, who had no political background, reached such a level through sheer struggle, then why not others, they ask.
The movie does not touch upon any controversial aspect, rather it is just a depiction of his life from ABVP days, till he became the PWD minister in the state.
