I was never in race for CM face, will never be: Poonia
Jaisalmer: Former state BJP president Satish Poonia said on Monday that he was never in the race for being the chief ministerial candidate and that he would never be. He said even if he got an offer for the post of CM, he would humbly refuse.
“I have never worked in the party for any post. I am working on a mission to ensure BJP wins the Rajasthan polls and Narendra Modi becomes prime minister again in 2024. The people of Rajasthan are important for me, and I will always work for them,” said Poonia during his visit to Jaisalmer.
Dismissing the recent changes in BJP’s state leadership as “routine and normal matter”, the MLA from Amber constituency in Jaipur district said, “In every organisation changes take place after a period. Everyone’s role is decided in the party, and we will go for the elections together. I am happy with my role. I will work as a general worker and do the work assigned by the party.” He said Congress has no future in Rajasthan and referred to recent statements by Sachin Pilot. “Infighting started in Congress in 2018, and is continuing,” he said.
On speculations about Pilot joining BJP, Poonia said it was an “imaginary question” and that no such talks had been held in this regard. “It is politics, and anything can happen. BJP never rides on anybody’s weakness. BJP will form the government in Rajasthan,” he said. “Development is stalled in Rajasthan, law and order has deteriorated, the people are frustrated, and there is a wave of protest against Congress,” he added.
