Coimbatore: With gradual increase in number of Covid-19 cases reported in the country, the district health authorities on Monday conducted drills in government hospitals across the district to check the preparedness of health workers and adequateness of infrastructure.
Collector Kranti Kumar Pati oversaw the proceedings at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
Talking to reporters later, he said though the number of Covid cases reported have not reached an alarming level, we are keeping ready medical facilities in the district. “We have added adequate beds and improved oxygen storage at the ESI Medical College Hospital too.”
The collector urged the people to wear masks and maintain social distance in public places. “Wearing masks has been made compulsory on the premises of hospitals. A total of 113 patients are undergoing treatment for Covid in the district. Around 350 samples are tested for the infection every day.”
CMCH dean A Nirmala, joint director of medical and rural health services Chandra and deputy director of health services P Aruna were present.
