The Pune city police have detained a 42-year-old man for allegedly issuing a death threat to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through a phone call to their control room.
The police identified the suspect as Rajesh Agawane, a resident of Warje. They said Agawane works as a nurse in Mumbai and comes to Pune several times a month to meet his wife. He has a habit of abusing people under the influence of alcohol, the police added.
A senior police officer said the call was received in the control room number 112 on Monday (April 10) night. The person who made the call initially asked the police to send an ambulance as he was suffering from chest pain. He was then directed to call on 108 for an ambulance. But after some time, he again made a call on 112 and threatened to kill the chief minister.
The police launched a search for the caller and nabbed Rajesh in a drunken state from the Warje area. Further investigation was on, the police added.
