Four of family found dead in their house in Jhajjar
Cops said a note was not recovered from the single-storey house
GURGAON: The bodies of four of a family were found inside their house in Jhajjar on Monday morning, and preliminary investigation suggests a factory worker strangled his wife and two children before hanging himself the night before.
Police said Naresh Kumar (42) was found hanging from a ceiling fan. His wife Suman (39), daughter Anushka (16) and son Naman (13) had injury marks on their necks. The daughter also had an injury on her head, indicating there may have been an altercation or resistance.
Cops said a note was not recovered from the single-storey house in Madana Khurd village, but the family was under financial stress.
Police have registered a murder case against Naresh and are investigating the matter. Autopsy reports are pending.
“We received information that four people were found dead inside their house at around 8am on Monday. Our teams rushed to the spot and a forensics team also came in later. We have not found a suicide note from the house. Initial investigation suggests that the family was under financial stress,” said SHO Sunil Kumar of the Dujana police station.
Suman was a homemaker; Anushka was studying in Class 11 and Naman in Class 9.
“Naresh was found hanging, and the others had injury marks on their necks. There was no sign of forced entry in the house,” the SHO added.
A neighbour told TOI that he would normally see the family up and about around 6am every day.
“No one came out of the house today. We thought they were sleeping, so we went to call them, but no one responded. Then, we knocked on the door repeatedly, but no one replied again. I informed other villagers and we checked their room through the window. That’s when we realised what had happened, and called the cops,” said Ram Kishan, a resident of Madana Khurd.
Kishan said that he wasn’t aware of any financial troubles that the family was facing.
