HYDERABAD: A mock drill to take stock of Covid-19 preparedness was conducted at the Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Monday. Oxygen plants, ventilators and other equipments were tested by state health authorities in the two hospitals. Similar mock drills have also been planned in primary health centres and community health centres on Tuesday.
"We inspected PSA (Pressure swing adsorption) units, liquid oxygen tanks, oxygen manifold, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, multichannel monitors, CPAP and BIPAP machines, medicine stock, masks, gloves, PPE kits, ICU beds, oxygen beds and general beds. We are in a position to tackle any number of cases. While the number of cases are increasing across the country, people must follow Covid-appropriate behaviour to prevent another wave," said Dr M Raja Rao, superintendent, Gandhi Hospital.
Similarly, at OGH the mock drill was carried out by physicians and hospital administrators to check equipment and infrastructure. "We already have all the required infrastructure in place. Although there are no Covid-19 admissions as of now, we are ready to handle them if there is a spurt in cases in the near future," said Dr B Nagender, superintendent OGH, who participated in the three-hour drill.
