British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis

British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis left Twitter users in splits after he mistakenly wrote Sholay as Chole. He recently took to Twitter and asked users to recommend Hindi films in order to improve his language skills.

Ellis then shared the list of recommendations he received on Twitter which includes Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Gangs of Wasseypur and Lagaan. But he misspelt the 1975 blockbuster film Sholay as Chole. This left Internet users going berserk.

He wrote, Thanks for the film suggestions. He said he will watch Chole, Chupke Chupke, adding that he hates violence but will watch Gangs Wasseypur so that he can say something friendly to the cricket opposition. He further said that he has seen Lagaan and that’s why he tells his colleagues every day “Dugna lagaan dena padega.”

People immediately highlighted his mistake and were amazed by his sense of humour.

One of the users wrote, Chole may play havoc with your stomach and palate. Sholay with popcorn would be a better option. Another commented, Sir, you can eat Chole – chupke chupke – while watching GoW.

A third user commented, Love the sense of humour, sir. Enjoy watching them (and more). And about Chole, you can have them with bhaturas at an outlet of Sita Ram Diwan Chand or at Chache Di Hatti in Model town. Sholay, would be better on the TV.

Soon after, Ellis realized his mistake and corrected it in a hilarious way. He posted another tweet and said I meant Sholay not chole (I haven’t had breakfast yet). One user wrote, Chole-Bhature is the breakfast of champions. Please give it a try sometime.

Eliis keeps posting interesting tweets that entertain his followers. He doesn’t miss a chance to enjoy local Indian dishes and a variety of street food delicacies that the country has to offer.

Alphonso mangoes EMI

It’s mango season already and the King of Fruits is everyone’s favourite. However, given the inflation Alphonso mangoes fail to become a staple during summer. A fruit seller in Pune started an initiative and is selling Alphonso on EMIs.

The fruit seller, Gaurav Sanas, works with Gurukripa Traders and Fruis Products and aims to ensure that common people who cannot afford to buy Alphonso can have it this year. Also known as Hapus, Alphonso mangoes are popular across the globe for their taste, quality, and high price as well.

Gaurav Sanas started the scheme of selling mangoes on EMI after common people lost interest in the fruit due to high prices after Covid. Sanas said people can buy it on EMI through both debit and credit cards.

He further claimed his family outlet is the first in India to sell mangoes on EMI.

In February, the Navi Mumbai market received as many as 125 boxes of Devgad and Raigad Alphonso. Reports said mango prices in Maharashtra will be cheaper this year as the Alphonso mangoes supply to Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Vashi has increased three-fold compared to March 2022 with the fruit from Devgad, Ratnagiri and Raigad in Konkan belt flooding the market.

Reports said the APMC receives 55,000 to 60,000 mango boxes every day which are lifted by local traders and they sell them at wholesale prices or at 20 per cent higher rates in markets or malls.

APMC director Sanjay Pamsare said the coronavirus pandemic affected the sell of mangoes for the last two years and this year the production is good and will increase by March end.
