Police seek leads in fight that led to May 2020 Near East Side homicide

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in a fatal shooting that took place in May 2020 on the Near East Side.

Around 9:05 p.m. on May 24, 2020, Columbus police were called to the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue for a gun-related run. When officers arrived, they found Andrew Kelley, 26, in the backyard of a home.

Police initially said that Kelley, who was from the South Side, was not cooperative with the officers and wouldn't tell them what had happened. He died a short time later at an area hospital.

Video recovered during the investigation showed a fight between Kelley and several other men who were at the location. Police said there were 20 to 30 people on the scene when the shooting occurred.

According to his obituary, Kelley was the oldest of 11 siblings and had a young daughter.
