Valpoi: Following in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are working tirelessly to deliver healthcare at the doorstep of citizens, said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. He further said that the state government prioritised preventive medicine in the state of Goa.

Vishwajit Rane was addressing the public during a mega medical camp on Sunday held at Khotodem panchayat in Sattari. While speaking, Rane said that through these camps, people have access to healthcare services and the medical team also educates beneficiaries on preventive health measures to promote positive behaviour change. “As part of the government, we are ensuring services are provided to people as well as infrastructure is strengthened timely” Rane added. He further warned private hospitals which treat patients for long during the initial period and refer them to Goa Medical College, Bambolim when they are in a serious stage.

“Action will be taken against such hospitals and the government will ensure strict enforcement of the clinical establishment act”, he added. Rane said that some private hospitals treat patients for days on end, make them pay, even make them utilise their DDSSY benefits and when the patients are critically ill, they are referred to GMC Hospital. Licenses of such hospitals will be revoked if required, he cautioned.
