AMARAVATI: Pedakurapadu legislator Namburu Sankara Rao said he would go to the election only after launching the works for a bridge on the Krishna river near Madipadu village.
He said that the bridge would connect Guntur district with Krishna district helping the development of several riverbank villages in both districts.
He said that chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had agreed to lay the foundation stone for the bridge to be taken up with Rs 60.5 crore.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Sankara Rao said chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had brought revolutionary changes to the very concept of development and welfare in the last four years.
He had initiated developmental works with a cost of Rs 650 crore in the constituency in a short span of just four years.
“We have taken up Bellamkonda-Amaravati two-lane highway with a cost of Rs.148.95 crore. Crucial Amaravati-Thullur road work with Rs 48 crore. There was an unprecedented development in the constituency,” said Sankara Rao.
He said that the Pedakurapadu constituency was only known for scandals and the illegal mining of sand during the TDP regime.
He said that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed Rs 100 crore penalty on the state government for the illegal mining activities resorted during the TDP regime, particularly in Amaravati area.
He alleged that his predecessor Kommalapati Sridhar was solely responsible for the illegal mining of sand in the entire Krishna basin in Guntur district and made heavens from the sand mining.
He charged that the TDP leaders had also siphoned off huge monies even from the accounts of the poor residents from the Hudco loan granted for the construction of individual toilets.
He said that Sridhar had also paid Rs 1.69 crore penalty for power theft for his spinning mill.
He said that TDP leaders had pocketed huge monies in the guise of granting the layout permissions to the private realtors after the announcement of the capital city and removed the layout stones from the plots that did not pay them demanded amounts.
“They have also created fake pattas for forest land in Atchampet mandal and usurped the precious forest area,” alleged Sankara Rao.
He said they had concentrated on the development of the constituency and showed the difference between the TDP and YSRCP regimes.
He said TDP leaders were unable to tolerate the growing popularity of YSRCP among the commoners as they have taken up both development and welfare at an equal pace.
He said that they had disbursed nearly Rs 1,400 crore on welfare schemes in the last four years.
He said four lift irrigation schemes with a cost of Rs 257 crore would be taken up for the benefit of upland farmers in Pedakurapadu, Mandepudi, Tallacheruvu and Parupudi.
