A portion of East Main Street in downtown Louisville is closed amid an "active police situation" that includes multiple casualties.

Avoid the 300 block of East Main Street, Louisville Metro Police advised just before 9 a.m., as officers respond to the situation. A large police presence is on the scene.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said the situation was still ongoing in a 9:15 a.m. Twitter post.
