Mangaluru: A man, who fell prey to an online fraud, has allegedly lost Rs 8.78 lakh after clicking on a link he received on his phone from an unknown number. The incident came to light when the victim filed a complaint at the CEN police station.
According to the complainant, he received a message from a stranger on March 3, who offered an opportunity to earn extra money by completing eight online tasks. He said that he paid Rs 8.78 lakh on mulitple occasions between March 13 and April 3.
In another case, a retired staff of New Mangalore Port has filed a complaint with Panambur police stating that he was duped of Rs 6.05 lakh by his tenant,Littoral alias Joseph Raja, on false assurance of providing his son a job in the marine department.
