Most people in the market for a high-end flagship-grade smartphone go with Apple and Samsung. That’s because people want their high-end phone to be well-tested and reliable and a brand that offers a hassle-free after-sales service. However, some Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ users, despite paying top dollar for these phones, are facing problems related to the camera and after-sales service.

Images taken with Galaxy S23 have blurry spots

According to a Reddit user, images taken with their Galaxy S23 have a blurry and smudged spot on the left side of their photos when captured in landscape mode. A similar soft spot is visible when images are captured on the top in portrait mode. Apart from making the images look bad in general, this issue makes photos of documents unusable. This issue allegedly appears in all kinds of shots, whether close-ups or taken from a distance.

Upon digging deeper, the Reddit user found that many other people are facing this problem on their Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. According to a poll conducted by a German forum, 64 out of 71 users were affected by this issue. According to a survey held by an Italian forum, 17 out of 25 users seem to be experiencing this camera-related problem. Even the sample images used in GSMArena’s Camera Comparison tool seem to have this issue.

According to the Reddit user, they came across another user who had sent their device to Samsung’s official service center for this camera-related problem. The technicians at the service center allegedly recognized the issue, but they were unable to solve it because Samsung’s stance on the issue is “it’s a characteristic of the big sensor,” and the company asked the user to “enjoy the DSLR-like bokeh effect.” However, they completely ignored the fact that this issue appears even with photos taken from a distance and not only with close-up shots.

Galaxy S23 Ultra doesn’t suffer from this issue

The user’s Galaxy S23 is still stuck at Samsung’s service center. Apparently, some other users got the camera sensor replaced to get the issue resolved, but the problem persists. According to the Reddit user, technicians at service centers don’t have non-faulty camera sensors to replace the ones on users’ devices. Many others have commented on the Reddit post that they’ve also been facing the same issue on their Galaxy S23.

Reading the Reddit post, looking at the sample images, and going by the comments, the blurry spot appearing on the photos taken with the Galaxy S23 seems to be caused by a hardware issue. However, nothing can be said until someone comes up with supporting evidence. It is worth mentioning that the Galaxy S23 Ultra doesn’t seem to have this problem. For now, the camera-related issue on the Galaxy S23 and S23+ appears real, and users are suffering from the problem. We hope that Samsung looks into this issue.
