Man held for stealing gold jewellery in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 47-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for stealing a bag containing 30.5 sovereigns of gold in an MTC bus on April 5 in Koyambedu.
The bag belonged to one Ezhumalai of Cheyyar, who was employed as a driver in a jewellery shop in his hometown. The incident happened on April 5 when Ezhumalai was returning to Cheyyar with gold jewellery designed at Parry's Corner.
To get a seat in a private bus, Ezhumalai threw his bag with the gold inside the bus through a window, but when reached his seat, he found the bag missing. CMBT police registered a case and secured U Chandrasekar, 47, of Neelankarai.
Cops recovered the gold.
