History sheeter seeking ₹2crore extortion arrested

Prayagraj: In a major development, a team of Puramufti police on Sunday arrested a history sheeter and member of Muzaffar Gang (registered IR 05) identified as Mohd Ubaid, a resident of Asrauli near Tiwari Talab road while he was planning to escape.
Puramufti police said that the accused had sought Rs 2 crore extortion from one Mohd Akhtar, a resident of Bamrauli Seikhpur on April 7. Following which, an FIR under section 147, 148, 323, 504, 405, and 386 of IPC was registered against Mohd Ubaid.
Police said that the arrested criminal had a vast criminal sketch as over 10 cases were registered against him. He was an active member of the notorious Muzaffar gang involved in cow slaughtering and smuggling.
Loot at petrol pump in Pratapgarh: Three unidentified armed and masked men on Saturday night robbed cash and a mobile phone from the staff of a petrol pump near Usrapur village under the limits of Mandhata police station of Pratapgarh district. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Police said that the incident took place around 9pm when three bike borne and miscreants in masks arrived at the petrol pump and snatched Rs 8,000 cash from the salesman and a mobile from the manager at gunpoint. The miscreants escaped towards Mandhata road.
The miscreants also threw the looted mobile phone around 1km distance from the petrol pump. The police have launched a manhunt in search of miscreants after registering an FIR under appropriate sections.
