4-year-old girl drowns in well

Coimbatore: A four-year-old girl drowned in a well near her residence at Nanjappa Goundenvalasu near Kangeyam in Tirupur district on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Dhakshana Shri, daughter of Prabhakaran from Nanjappa Goundenvalasu. Police said the girl’s residence was located on farmland.
Police said Dhakshana was playing outside her residence while her relatives Shanthi and Palaniyammal were watching her. Her mother P Dhanalakshmi, 29, was in the kitchen. When Dhanalakshmi came out of the kitchen, she found her daughter missing, police said.
Dhanalakshmi and her relatives searched for Dhakshana. Finally, they found her body inside a well. The fire brigades retrieved the body from the well around 6.45pm and sent it to the Kangeyam government hospital for a postmortem.
Police registered a case under Section 174CrPC and further investigation is on.
