TN health minister conducts Covid preparedness drill at Rajiv Gandhi Govt Hospital in Chennai

Tamil Nadu's health minister M. Subramanian conducted a mock drill to test the state's Covid preparedness at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai, as suggested by the central government. The drill aimed to check the readiness of equipment, including beds, manpower, drugs, and oxygen.According to a bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, the country recorded 5,357 fresh Covid-19 infections on Sunday, marking a slight decrease from the previous day's count of 6,155 cases. However, the number of daily fresh infections has been on an upward trend in recent days.On April 1, there were 2,994 daily infections, which increased to 3,824 on April 2, 3,641 on April 3, and 3,038 on April 4. The number of cases then spiked to 4,435 on April 5, 5,335 on April 6, 6,050 on April 7, and 6,155 on April 8.Experts have warned that the rise in cases could lead to complications and deaths, particularly among the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
