Margao: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday cautioned people against falling prey to “divisive forces” who he said were out to thwart the state government’s development plans and disrupt the state’s communal harmony.
Speaking at a programme held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on the occasion of Easter, Sawant said that while people of all religions come together to celebrate all festivals in Goa, “there’s a third force in operation in Goa which tries to divide people on the basis of religion and caste.”
The chief minister, however, didn’t name anyone.
Sawant further said that the state government was trying very hard to lead Goa towards becoming a progressive state in terms of infrastructure development and human development through its various development projects and welfare schemes.
“Our achievements are for all to see. The state has 100% tap water connection, and is 100% open defecation free. However, there are certain forces which are trying to hamper infrastructure development. Please don’t fall prey to them,” he said.
BJP general secretary Damodar Naik also spoke.
