VARANASI: A day after Bihar minister and RJD patriarch Lalu Pradav Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav lodged a police complaint that he was forcibly evicted from a local hotel, cops say that the hotel staff removed the luggage of his attendants as they had kept the room occupied well after the checkout time.
Yadav's personal secretary Mishal Sinha had lodged the complaint with Sigra police on Friday, alleging that the luggage of Yadav and his attendants were allegedly taken out of the rooms when he had gone to offer prayers at a temple.
Additional commissioner of police, Santosh Kumar Singh said, "After initial investigation, it came to light that Yadav and his attendants were staying in two rooms of the hotel. One of the rooms was occupied even after checkout time and the customers who had booked that room, had arrived. Following this, the room in which Yadav's attendants were staying was vacated by the hotel management in the presence of one of them and the belongings were kept at the reception safely."
Sinha alleged, "When the minister returned to the hotel after offering prayer in the local temples on Friday evening, we found that the luggage and all other belongings were kept at the reception. We forced hotel staff to show the CCTV footage and it came to light that not only the luggage of one room had been shifted but the room of the minister was also opened. Apart from the staff, the hotel owner had also gone inside the room in the absence of the minister. It is a clear case of security breach, hence I gave a complaint to Sigra police and demanded lodging an FIR in this connection."
Yadav didn't answer reporters' queries but Sinha said: "We are in Vindhyachal today (Saturday). The minister had cancelled visits to many places in Varanasi following the shocking act of the hotel staff. We don't understand the motive of the hotel owner and his staff behind entering the hotel."
