GURGAON: The city reported 173 new Covid cases on Saturday, a dip from 206 the previous day. The test positivity rate remained the same at 9.85%.
The number of active cases, however, has increased from 698 on Friday to 788. Of these, 11 are hospitalised and the remaining are in home isolation. The health department said a total of 1,756 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, compared to 2,091 on Friday.
The city also recorded 83 recoveries.
"We have already increased testing. People should follow Covid protocol and wear masks at public places," said Dr Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer.
A total of 1,067 cases have been reported so far in April. "Masking is important. People should also ensure that they are vaccinated and avoid crowded areas. We are mostly getting OPD patients with mild flu-like symptoms. The number of patients being hospitalised is not very high at present. I have so far not admitted a patient who requires ICU care. So, the situation is not alarming, but everybody must take precautions. It seems to be a mild variant of the virus," said Dr Manoj Goel, director (pulmonology) at Fortis Memorial Research Institute.
Haryana, meanwhile, reported 399 Covid new cases on Saturday. The maximum cases were reported in Gurgaon, followed by Faridabad (69) and Panchkula (51).
