Apr. 8—Kern County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide that happened Friday in Lamont, the department reported Saturday.

Deputies who were called to a report of shots fired at about 10:14 p.m. in the 7900 block of Wharton Avenue found a deceased male who they said appeared to be the victim of a violent assault.

No further information was released.
