34% drop in job seekers on NCS portal in state in a year
Jaipur: There has been a 33.6% drop in the number of job seekers in Rajasthan registering themselves on government of India's National Career Service (NCS) portal.
In 2022-23, over 1.82 lakh people in the state registered on the NCS portal compared to 2.75 lakh in 2021-22, according to the ministry of labour and employment data.
It is believed that many who lost their jobs during Covid pandemic had registered themselves on the portal in 2021-22.
In 2018-19, 1.97 lakh job seekers had registered themselves on the NCS portal, 73,408 in 2019-20 and 2.01 lakh in 2020-21, informed minister of state for labour and employment Rameswar Teli while replying to an unstarred question on April 3.
The reply also stated that employment generated under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, 13,968 people were employed in Rajasthan in 2022-23 (till March 15), 20,776 in 2021-22, 22,176 in 2020-21 and 24,200 in 2019-20.
"The government of India is encouraging various projects involving substantial investment and public expenditure on schemes like Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), etc., for employment generation in the country," the minister's reply stated.
"Besides these initiatives, various flagship government programmes such as Make in India, Start-up India, Stand-up India, Digital India, Housing for All, etc., are also oriented towards generating employment opportunities in the country," it added.
