HYDERABAD: Several Congress leaders were placed under house arrest hours before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to city on Saturday.
Youth Congress and NSUI state presidents Shivsena Reddy and Balmoori Venkat, state Congress SC cell chief Pritam, Mahila Congress chief Sunitha Rao and Seva Dal chief S Prasad among others were placed under house arrest.
TPCC senior vice president Mallu Ravi condemned the arrests stating that the opposition party had a right to bring to the notice of the PM the problems and seek funds for state.
"While BRS staged a protest, the police, under the BRS did not allow Congress to hold protests. This has exposed the BRS and BJP ties," he said.
Former minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said it was BJP which utilised even an official event to derive political mileage. No leader spoke about the liquor scam, he said.
