JAIPUR: The 30th foundation day of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) was celebrated with much pomp and show at the centre on Saturday morning.
The organizers also inaugurated a three-day foundation day programme at JKK.
“JKK has emerged as a major cultural centre of the country. Artists have achieved important milestones starting from here. Activities to promote folk art and culture of the state and to connect the youth with them are also being organized here. Artists of every genre are provided a platform here,” said Gayatri Rathore, principal secretary of arts and culture and the director general of JKK.
JKK was designed and built by late architect from MIT Charles Correa, in 1986.
JKK was built according to the concept of ‘Navagraha’ (nine planets or nine squares) or commonly called the nine-house mandala. It was inaugurated on April 8, 1993 by then President of India Shankar Dayal Sharma.
