Woman dies of Covid in Gaya

PATNA: The state health department on Saturday confirmed the death of a 70-year-old woman due to Covid-19 infection. The woman died at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital in Gaya on Friday evening.
"The woman, who was on oxygen support, was brought to the hospital on April 5," said ANMMCH superintendent Dr Santosh Kumar Sinha, adding another Covid patient, a 65-year-old woman, was also admitted to the hospital on Saturday, but she was stable.
State health department secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said the deceased woman, a native of Jehanabad, was admitted at a private hospital in the district with a cardiac issue. Later, she was referred to ANMCH after being tested positive for Covid-19. "The death was due to myocardial infraction," Singh said.
The state had last reported a death of Covid-19 positive person on January 5 this year and the toll had reached 12303 then. On Saturday, another death was reported and now the toll has gone up to 12304.
Meanwhile, the state witnessed a massive rise in new cases with 46 people testing positive on Saturday. With this, the number of active cases has reached 109 in Bihar. As per the data shared by the health department, of the 46 new cases, maximum 27 were from Patna district alone, followed by Khagaria (2), Munger (2), Saharsa (1) and one each from Bhagalpur, East Champaran, Jehanabad, Madhubani and Siwan. These 46 new cases were against 43357 samples tested in last 24 hours.
The pan India data shows a total 6168 new cases were registered across the country on Saturday, with maximum 1900 cases in Kerala, followed by Maharashtra (926), Delhi (733), Haryana (407) and Gujarat (328). Bihar was placed at 17th position with new 46 cases and total 109 active cases. While a day before, it was placed at 23rd position with 20 cases registered in a day and 76 active cases.
