The third day of the inter-varsity sports fest ‘Sportikon’ at Bennett University saw more than 20 universities participate in 16 different sports. While the winners were elated, the others who failed to secure top spots seemed downcast.

The men’s final saw Amity University, Noida compete with UPES, Dehradun. “I think all our teams coordinated well and that made all the difference,” said Sourav Tomar, the group captain of Amity University after his team won. They were conferred with gold medals, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 21,000.

Meanwhile, Bennett University qualified for the finals in girls’ badminton. “We worked really hard and hope to come back stronger next time,” said vice-captain Tanishka Gangone after her team won a silver medal in the final against Shiv Nadar University.

While some sports concluded, many others have finals scheduled on Sunday. In kabaddi, Amity University made it to the final, which is scheduled tomorrow. “The beginning was on our side, but the pressure mounted in the middle when the opponents put up a strong front," said Vineet Kumar Jain after competing in the semi-finals with Bennett University. “It was a tough win," he added. Speaking about the finals tomorrow, he said that after having made it so far, he hopes his team wins a gold.

The day ended with the teams grooving to the beats of DJ DNA and DJ Night at a Neon DJ night. Wearing neon bands, the audience swayed to Patakka Guddi, No Love, etc.
