Panaji: Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao have extended heartiest greetings to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of Easter.
In his message, the Governor said, “Easter is one of the most important days for Christians all over the world. Easter symbolises the supreme sacrifice made by Lord Jesus Christ for humankind. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his resurrection are manifestations of the triumph of good over evil.”
Further the Governor said, in the present times, there is no greater lesson to learn than that of forgiveness and brotherhood amongst all irrespective of religion, caste or creed.
“On this holy and pious occasion, let us all uphold the noble ideals of peace, harmony and brotherhood. May the celebrations of Easter this year bring greater peace, happiness and unity among the people,” he concluded.
Extending his heartiest greetings to the people of the state especially to the Christian brethren on the blissful occasion of Easter, Chief Minister Dr. Sawant said, “The festival is celebrated to commemorate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ which is a divine symbol of triumph of good over evil. Good Friday symbolises the supreme and selfless sacrifice of Lord Jesus Christ for strengthening the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and human values amongst mankind.”
The CM further said, “It is an auspicious occasion for us to recall the eternal and valuable message of forgiveness and compassion. May the celebrations of Easter bring greater peace, happiness and unity among the people.”
“Easter reminds us all to follow our conscience to work for others. Let us pledge to strive for the welfare of others. May the Easter celebration inspire everyone to win over sin and bring greater prosperity and happiness. Let us become apostles of peace and joy,” the Chief Minister concluded.
Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao in his message said, “On this Easter day, I would like to extend my cordial greetings to all those who believe in the triumph of Jesus over death and evil and his promise of eternal life. This is what we celebrate today, that Christ did not end up in the tomb, but that He rose from the dead, making us sharers in His new life. Easter encourages us to infuse our society with newness of life and purpose. The Risen Lord invites us to offer hope and support to the needy, the dejected, the outcast and those who live on the peripheries.”
“As I send out my wishes for a happy and grace-filled Easter, I pray that all of us, living in this beautiful state of Goa, may join together in building a society wherein the interests of others will reign above our own interests. May we be challenged to be genuine agents of peace, understanding and goodwill. I wish you, one and all, a joyful Easter, with abundant blessings of Jesus, the Risen Lord,” the Archbishop said.
