Umran to Dhawan. Cuts the first but the deep cover fielder collects the ball. No run taken.
Bhuvneshwar returns. FOUR! Bhuvneshwar strays in line and Dhawan flicks his wrist and sends it on the on side. He gets the orange cap with that. Dropped! Dhawan returns a full toss straight back at the bowler. Came too quickly at him. A single off the fourth. Rathee off the mark with a tap to third man.
Dhawan now needs to get a single to stay on strike in the next. Bhuvneshwar tries to go with a bouncer but it is given a WIDE. SRH takes a review but the decision stands. Leg bye taken on the final ball and the job done.
Dhawan up against Natarajan. Mohit Rathee is the new batter. SIX! Dhawan sends a half volley over deep mid-wicket to get to his FIFTY. SIX AGAIN! Dhawan shuffles and uses the pace to lift the ball over the fine leg boundary. That’s 100 for Punjab. Takes the single off the last ball.
Markande to Dhawan. FOUR! Dhawan steps out and sends it over Markande’s head. Single off the penultimate delivery. OUT! What was Ellis thinking? He tries a reverse sweep. The ball turns in and that’s the ninth wicket down. Absolutely ridiculous decision-making. Markande ends his spell with four wickets.
Umran to Dhawan. Dhawan throws his bat at a delivery rising on him. He had room and the ball takes an edge and races to the third man fence for FOUR runs. A run off the third delivery. Nathan Ellis sees out the remaining three from the over and the PBKS innings treads into the 15th over.
Markande to Dhawan. A single on the first delivery. Three dots to follow. OUT! Chahar goes for a sweep but the ball passes under his bat. Given leg before. PBKS hass asked for a review. The impact was the only thing that could have saved him. Ball tracker shows ‘umpire’s call’ and that’s the eighth wicket. Dhawan denies a single on the last ball to Nathan Ellis.
Umran to Dhawan. A single with a cut shot to deep covers.
OUT! Brar is castled. 148 kmph! Punjab Kings is falling like a pack of cards. Rahul Chahar in the middle. Dropped! The ball is flying down leg and Chahar gets a faint edge on it. Klaasen reached it with a dive but not able to hold on. The last ball is going down leg but the umpire does not signal one. Dhawan asks for a review. The decison stands as Chahar had walked across.
Markande to Dhawan. The batter is beaten by the turn while trying a drive. Single on the next delivery. Khan is beaten on the third delivery. He tries to play with the turn but misses the skidded delivery.
OUT! Markande sends the wrong one in and Khan has no answer to it. He has asked for review but the decision is a formality. The ball tracker shows that it just clips the leg stump and Khan has to make the long walk back.
Harpreet Brar off the mark on his first delivery. A single to long off. Another one from Dhawan to end the over.
Umran Malik for the first time tonight. One indeed has to marvel at the SRH bowling range. Starts with a WIDE. Raza collects two runs with a drive to deep cover. Raza tries to clear the infield with a pull. But the ball rushes onto him. Luckily he is able to beat the mid on. Two runs.
OUT! Raza is caught at third man. He tries to work the pace and guide a ball at his midrif over third man. Not quite implements it and finds the fielder. Half the PBKS side is back to the hut.
Shahrukh Khan starts with a FOUR. Slashes at it and beats the mid off fieldere.
Mayank Markande. For the first time in SRH colours. Shikhar takes a single with a drive to long off. FOUR! Curran tries to cut and pierces the short third and point fielder. OUT! Markande has the last laugh. Curran steps out hoping to connect for a big hit. He plays across the line and is foxed by the spin. An outside edge is collected by short third.
Out comes Sikandar Raza. He is the impact player, replacing Prabhsimran Singh. That means no Kagiso Rabada today.
Natarajan to Dhawan. FOUR! Dhawan packs an overpitched delivery right back over the bowler’s head. A single to deep cover on the next delivery. Curran tries a big swing on the off side but gets an inside edge. The ball goes to deep square and a run completed.
FOUR! Sublime! Dhawan picks the back-of-a-length delivery early. He waits for it and cuts. The point fielder can just see it run past him. One run to long on to end the over.
Washington Sundar into the attack. Curran to face him. FOUR! Curran hangs back and sends the ball through extra covers. Single to long off next. Dhawan nearly plays on. He tries to pull a short delivery but is deceived as the ball holds up a tad. A single to deep mid-wicket. Six runs from the over.
Jansen to Curran. SIX! Way to start the over. He anticipates a short delivery and waits for it. He unleashes a pull and sends the ball into the stands behind long on. FOUR. Curran lofts it on the off side and the ball runs to the fence on one bounce.
Curran taps the ball to point and Dhawan straight away calls for a single. Makes it home in the end. Two dots to end the over and the PowerPlay.
SRH brings in T. Natarajan. Dhawan runs a single on the first delivery. Curran has to scurry one the fourth delivery. He thinks of a single with a tap to mid off but only just makes it. Misfield and PBKS gets FOUR. Dhawan slices on an attempted drive and the ball is in the air. The short third fielder is stuck in an awkward spot and neither goes for a catch nor stops the ball. It runs past him and hits the fence. A couple on the next ball.
Jansen to continue. After two dots, Jansen sends a bouncer to Jitesh. The batter sways away just in time. OUT! Jitesh Sharma is gone. He tries to beat the mid off fielder but holes out. A dream start for Sunrisers. Sam Curran joins Dhawan in the middle. A wicket maiden.
Beaten! Bhuvneshwar moves it away from Dhawan and misses the edge by a whisker. FOUR! Gorgeous! Dhawan pushes forward and presents a full face of the bat. Runs away to the boundary. FOUR to finish. Dhawan again steps out to negate the swing. He lifts it over the infield on the off side and adds four runs to his tally.
Marco Jansen to Short. Starts with a WIDE. He’s given on the second delivery. OUT! Jansen moves it into the right-hander and Short goes for blind heave on the offside. Completely beaten and Punjab is two down. Jitesh Sharma is LBW on the first delivery. PBKS goes for a review. The ball tracker shows the ball is missing the stumps and Jitesh survives.
FOUR! Off an edge. Jitesh pokes at a delivery way outside off. Lucky that it went away from the second slip. Two dots to end the over.
Matthew Short lbw b Jansen 1 (3b 0x4 0x6)
Singh faces Kumar. OUT! FIRST BALL DUCK FOR PRABHSIMRAN! The ball pitches on a good length and shapes slightly back in. Prabhsimran misses the line and is trapped leg before.
In walks Matthew Short. WIDE. Gets an edge on a delivery bowled outside off. Runs a single by the time the fielder at third fields it. Another WIDE. Unable to control the swing. Dhawan lets the next one go and shoulders arms. Two runs with a flick to deep square region.
FOUR on the fifth delivery. Dhawan just opens the face off the bat after charging down to the delivery. Beats the point fielder. Walks down yet again on the final delivery. Let’s it pass undisturbed to the keeper.

Markram: Looks a good wicket and doesn’t look like it will deteriorate. Hopefully we can restrict them to a low total. Just want to ensure the boys are in a good state of mind. Klaasen and Markande come into the side.
Dhawan: We wanted to bat first. There was no dew here last night. Hopefully we can put them under pressure. Looks like a good wicket with true bounce. We are keeping a good environment in the side. Everyone is performing well. We have got both experienced and young players. The only change - Mathew Short comes in for Rajapaka.
Simon Katich: We saw the ball come onto the bat in the early overs during the match against Lucknow. A lot of cutters were used. It is dry today after a hot day. The team batting first might want to bat first. Expect a little bit of early swing too.
Mathew Short was handed his maiden cap before the match today. That means only one thing - the Aussie will play today. Likely to replace Bhanuka Rajapaksa who injured his arm during PBKS vs RR.
On the swing so far in the tournament: I think the ball behaves differently at different venues, so it should not be a surprise.
On the SRH side this season: We have a good side. It is balanced between young and old players. Things did not go right for us in the first two. But we have talked and we can turn things around. Still just two matches played.
On home support: The support we get is amazing. WE are back here after three years. The stands are full even before the start. Our record at the ground gives us confidence.
Today’s surface: Looks like a different one. I don’t look at it much. I just bowl the first delivery and then assess.
In a format where the batsmen swing the long levers and dismantle the bowlers in the slightest margin of error, left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar opined that in T20 cricket, bowling dot balls is equivalent to taking wickets.
Punjab Kings will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 14th IPL match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday and the spinner is confident of doing well in the tournament.
“Bowling dot balls is equivalent to taking wickets in T20 cricket. When the opposition is scoring runs, primarily my job is to restrict the flow of runs and of course, pick wickets. But not allowing the batsmen to score and to keep the opposition to a low total is the goal,” the Punjab spinner said.

England batter Liam Livingstone is set to get fitness clearance from the ECB by the weekend and will join his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings on April 10.
Livingstone has not played competitive cricket since suffering a knee injury on his Test debut in Pakistan four months ago. He had also endured an ankle injury last year and that flared up in recent weeks to make his rehab tougher.
An IPL source told PTI that Livingstone is arriving in India on April 10.
“He will be arriving on Monday,” the source said.
It is certain that he will miss Punjab Kings’ third game of the season against Surnisers Hyderabad on April 9 but could play its fourth game at home on April 13.
On Thursday, Livingtone said he is close to regaining full fitness.
“(I’m) getting there, finally,” Livingstone said on LancsTV’s coverage of Lancashire’s opening County Championship fixture against Surrey.
“It’s been a long road: three or four days a week at the gym over the last three or four months. Maybe towards the end of this week, or start of next week, I’ll fly out to India and get going again.
Livingstone is an important player for Punjab Kings, who retained him on a contract worth Rs 11.50 crore ahead of the auction last year. He had hammered 437 runs last season at a strike rate of 182.08.
