Vadodara: Three unidentified persons snatched a bag containing Rs 12.07lakh cash from a man on Padra Road on the outskirts of the city on Friday night. The man had collected the money for a payments bank.
Jaikishan Lokwani (57), a retired railway employee staying in Madhav Residency in Khodiyarnagar area, stated in an offence registered with the J P Road police station, that his son Vishal was a sub-agent for the Fino Payments Bank. According to Lokwani, he was helping his son with the work for the last 15 days.
Lokwani said that their work involved collecting money from small finance companies in Padra and depositing them in the account of the payments bank they used to work for. On Friday evening, Lokwani went to Padra and collected money from three companies and deposited it in the account of his bank using a cash deposit machine.
Lokwani later collected money totaling to Rs 12,07,536 from two other banks and was riding on his scooter on the service road of Padra Road. He claimed that three men who were about 32-35 years old were walking in the middle of the service road ahead of him. Lokwani stated that he slowed down and honked.
According to Lokwani, one of the three persons caught the handle of his scooter when he reached near them and the other two snatched his bag. The three accused allegedly ran towards Padra Road and sped away on a motorcycle.
Lokwani said that he tried to follow them and later informed his son as well as the police control room.
