Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 9 inaugurated International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) in Mysuru in Karnataka. While addressing the inaugural session, PM Modi threw light on the increasing numbers of the wildlife population in India.PM Modi said, “With only 2.4% of the world's land area, India contributes to about 8% of the known global diversity...with nearly 30,000 Elephants, we are the largest Asiatic Elephant range country in the world.” He went on to say that his experience of Lion conservation in Gir, Gujarat during his stint as the Chief Minister made him learn that there is a need to build a relationship between nature and humans.
