766 fire calls in last 11 months, property worth ₹95.7cr saved
Nagpur: In 2021-22, the city had witnessed 652 fire incidents, while in 11 months of the last financial year (2022-23), as many 766 fire calls were reported, as per the fire department data.
Despite manpower shortage, the fire department managed to save property worth over ₹95.7 crore, as per the statistics of the department for the period April 1, 2022, to February, 28, 2023, while fires destroyed assets worth Rs17.5 crore.
Last year, the number of minor fires was 466, while 188 moderate and 118 major fires were reported across the city. This includes fires in residential buildings, homes and factories.
The firefighting services have improved significantly in recent times due to introduction of latest equipment and vehicles like hydraulic platform, ladders and fire tenders, said fire officials.
