Man found shot to death behind PSL bar; police detain motorcyclist
PORT ST. LUCIE — A man was found shot to death early this morning behind a bar, and police have taken a motorcycle driver who fled the scene into custody.
Port St. Lucie Police responded just after 2 a.m. today to Harpers Pub, in the 1700 block of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard, to a report of a shooting. There they found a man lying dead of gunshot wounds on Southeast Greendon Avenue behind the pub, police said.
A motorcycle was seen fleeing the scene, and police gave chase. The driver refused to stop for officers until reaching Martin County, where the driver was taken into custody on Southwest Citrus Boulevard, police said.
Port St. Lucie Police Sgt. John Dellacroce said in a news release today that the shooting was targeted, and not an incident of random violence. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call detectives at 772-871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS.
No further information about the incident, including the name of the victim or the motorcyclist in custody, was immediately available.
