Campaign in temple: MLA, MLC booked

Gadag: Laxmeshwar police have registered a case against six persons, including MLC Pradeep Shettar and Shirahatti MLA Ramanna Lamani, on charges of misusing a religious place for campaigning for the BJP.
Shankar Hullammanavar, chief officer of Laxmeshwar municipality, has said in his complaint that he got information that Pradeep Shettar, Ramanna Lamani and Gadag-Betgeri City Municipal Council president Usha Dasar held a meeting in favor of BJP at the historical Someshwar temple in Laxmeshwar on Thursday morning. “It is an offence under section 7 of Religious Institution (Prevention of misuse) Act-1988 and hence the complaint is registered,” he said.
Laxmeshwar police said that they received the complaint on Friday evening and that they have launched an investigation into the said incident.
