MUMBAI: After almost two months the city police control room received yet another call from an unknown person on early Saturday morning informing that three suspicious persons who have Pakistan connection have landed in Mumbai from Dubai, the police said they believe it was a hoax call.
Following the call the Mumbai Police officials immediately sounded a high alert and asked its officials to increase vigilance. According to the police, a person who identified himself as Raja Thong called up the main control room and informed that three terrorists had arrived from Dubai and said that they have Pakistan connection.
The caller also told the control room that the three 'terrorists' were engaging in illegal business and also gave the registration of the suspected vehicle. Following this, senior police officials held a meeting about the phone call. The crime branch was also roped in to inquire into it.
During the course of investigations, it transpired that the said mobile number (of the person who had made the phone call) was found to be registered in Beed district.
A team of the crime branch reached there and, for nearly a couple of hours, questioned the person in whose name the SIM had been registered and found that someone else had purchased the SIM card in his name and had made the call to the police control room.
The Beed native has nothing to do with the call, said the police. "We tried to call up the number or find his location but he had switched off his phone and has gone underground. And after making all inquiries we have concluded that it was a hoax call by the person who gave false information and misled us we are taking action against him and are looking for him'' said an official.
