Tickets for Vande Bharat Express sold out in 3 hrs

Coimbatore: The tickets for the first journey of the Vande Bharat express from Coimbatore to Chennai on Sunday were sold out within three hours of the opening of the booking on Friday.
The train service will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and regular services of the train would start from Sunday.
The train will reach Chennai in just 5.50 hours while the Chennai-Coimbatore intercity train usually takes 7.35 hours. It will leave Coimbatore at 6am on every day except for Wednesday and reach Chennai at 11.50am. Likewise, it will leave Chennai at 2.25pm and will reach Coimbatore at 8.15pm.
Former member of divisional railway users’ consultative committee J Sathish said the booking for 350 chair car tickets and 35 executive class tickets for the first journey of the train from Coimbatore to Chennai on Sunday began at 8am on Friday and tickets were sold out within three hours. “Similarly, tickets for the train from Chennai to Coimbatore on Sunday were also sold out in a quick time. The tickets for the following days were being sold like hotcakes.”
Ticket prices are fixed at 1,215 for AC chair cars and 2,310 for executive chair cars. TNN
