NOIDA: Traffic police have banned the entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles travelling towards Delhi on the Noida-Greater Noida and Yamuna expressways between 7am and 10pm. The move follows a similar ban by Delhi, which leads to snarls at the Noida-Delhi borders, the two expressways and near Pari Chowk.
The advisory, issued by DCP (traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav on Thursday, states heavy and medium vehicles, barring those carrying essential commodities, will not be allowed to enter the expressways during the day for 15 days starting Friday as part of a trial to decongest the border areas, the expressways and Pari Chowk. Currently, there is no restriction for heavy vehicles to travel through the expressways.
"With Delhi banning the entry of heavy goods vehicles from 7am to 10pm, it has been noticed that these vehicles park in areas adjacent to Delhi's borders, leading to traffic congestion. Heavy congestion is reported near Kalindi Kunj, Chilla Road and the DND flyway. So, we have decided to ban the entry of such vehicles on the two expressways," the DCP said.
For the next 15 days, teams will be deployed at all pickets and entry points on the expressways to divert these vehicles towards Pusta Road in Noida and the 130-metre road in Ghaziabad. "Suggestions from all stakeholders will be taken before we take a call to implement the ban permanently. The traffic diversion will not affect the movement of personal and commercial vehicles," Yadav stated.
As per the traffic advisory, these freight vehicles going to Delhi and Ghaziabad via the Yamuna and Noida-Greater expressways will be diverted via the service road from Hindon cut and sent towards Noida sectors 151, 168, 135, 128 and 126 to Pusta Road where they can park till 10pm before entering Delhi. Goods vehicles travelling towards Pari Chowk via the Yamuna Expressway will be diverted from near the Galgotias University cut..
